Personal Emergency Response

CareLink® allows anyone living at home to quickly and reliably summon help at the touch of a button 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week. Our support center is trained to quickly and accurately determine what level of assistance is needed and to ensure that help gets there as quickly as possible. A very simple enrollment form is all that's needed to get the service started. You can choose between our popular 7100 series unit, which offers crystal clear and reliable 2-way voice or our 8100 series unit, which also includes the ability to add daily reminder messages.

CareLink® equipment is very reliable and provides excellent voice quality - offering hands-free, 2-way voice capability throughout the entire home. Weighing less than half an ounce, the waterproof pendant is the smallest unit of its kind. It can be worn either as a pendant, wristband or belt clip. For assistance, you simply press the pendant or emergency button. Special adaptive devices are available for those who have difficulty or are unable to press the button.

All CareLink® units connect to our Support Center through an 800 (toll free) network. Telephone communication charges are included in the monthly system price. You will receive a monthly invoice for the CareLink® service, which can be paid by check, credit card or direct withdrawal.

    Includes medication reminders
CareLink 8100This unit provides the same features and benefits of the 7100 series, but also includes:
  • Up to 8 individual reminder messages (20 seconds each).
  • Voice Prompts aid in the setup and installation and programming of reminder messages.
  • Remote Check In: Allows family members to talk through the base unit remotely without any client action required. They simply call the base unit twice from any telephone and key in a four-digit password.
  • Expanded Voice prompts will auto-detect phone line problems and low battery conditions and will report them both locally and when possible to the Support Center.

    For digital home phone systems
SparrowR Adapter The CareLink® SparrowR Adapter enables the CareLink® Personal Emergency Response Unit to work reliably over a VoIP Phone Service (Voice Over Internet Protocol - such as Vonage or Magic Jack) or over a basic internet connection. Simply plug it into the home router and use one of the two standard telephone ports to connect the CareLink® unit.

Each phone port operates independently. You'll get clear reception and a reliable CareLink® connection to our CareLink® Support Center even while using the Internet at the same time. As an added safety feature the connection is continuously "polled" to make sure that the internet connection is always active in the event of an emergency.

Why is it important?
Emergency response systems are designed to send calls over an analog phone line. To transmit emergency calls properly using VoIP, the call must be converted to digital and then converted back to analog. It is during this conversion that problems develop sometimes arriving at the Support Center with errors. The CareLink® SparrowR Adapter solves this problem for digital telephone subscribers!

How is the CareLink® SparrowR Unique?
The SparrowR, when plugged into a CareLink® unit, will intercept the call at the unit, and transmit it directly through a specialized Internet path. It bypasses VoIP networks completely, instead relying only upon the customer's initial Internet connection. By capturing the call at the customer premise, it transmits only the smallest amount of data required, over the Internet, to relay the emergency call digitally. Then, the CareLink® SparrowR Adapter switches into a standard VoIP telephone connection. In this way, all the benefits of Voice-over-IP are brought into the picture, but only AFTER the emergency call is finished transmitting - providing reliable transmissions AND high quality voice capabilities.

Falls are the #1 reason for admission to Emergency Rooms for people over 65.

Falls are the leading cause of home injury and death among older adults, accounting for 53% of all home injury deaths for adults between the ages of 65 and 74. Thirty-five percent of people over 65 suffer a fall each year. There is also a strong relationship between the time it takes for help to arrive and the severity of injuries ... the longer someone lies on the floor after an injury the worse that injury becomes.

There are many factors that increase the chance of falling. One, of course, is age. However, many medications cause dizziness, fatigue, and/or imbalance that multiply the risk. Certain chronic conditions and illnesses also increase the chance of falls - and then there are environmental factors.

Thanks to innovations in technology and new approaches to care, more and more seniors are able to live safely and more independently in their own homes. The protection and quick assistance that CareLink offers is part of the reason this is possible.
